This young lady who got married to a man almost 10 years older than her was trying to ‘play’ her husband, not knowing that the husband is a sharp man himself. After hearing several allegations about his young wife sleeping around with other men, the husband opened a fake facebook account and started an online romantic relationship with her. The source said the young lady is a student in one of the Polytechnic in Lagos, adding that the husband has since sent her parking. Boko Haram Leader Threatens Cameroon in New Video
Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has threatened Cameroon in a video message on YouTube, warning that the same fate would befall the country as neighbouring Nigeria. The video, which was posted on January 5, is directly addressed to Cameroon’s President Paul Biya after repeated fighting between militants and troops in the country’s far north. “Oh Paul Biya, if you don’t stop this, your evil plot, you will taste what has befallen Nigeria … Your troops cannot do anything to us,” Shekau said in Arabic. Paul Biya has been mentioned by Shekau before but it is first time that he has directly addressed Cameroon and is the first admission that Boko Haram has been actively operating in the country. Boko Haram fighters had in the past launched attacks on northeastern Nigeria from bases inside Cameroon but recent months have seen an increase in strikes within the country.
The attacks have taken a similar form to those in Nigeria from hit-and-run raids to kidnappings. Boko Haram, which began its violent insurgency in 2009, has taken over swathes of territory in three northeastern Nigerian states, and declared some towns as part of its Islamic caliphate. Last weekend, fighters captured the key town of Baga and the headquarters of the Multinational Joint Task Force in the Lake Chad area, tightening its control of the remote state of Borno. Cameroon’s far north region, which adjoins Borno to the east, has come increasingly under fire and on December 28, Yaounde deployed fighter jets against Boko Haram for the first time. Biya personally ordered the airstrike after the insurgents crossed the border and seized a military camp, the government said on December 29. The aerial bombardment, hailed as a new phase in the counter-insurgency, forced the Islamists to flee, it added. Shekau, in military fatigues and green rubber boots, speaks for more than 17 minutes in the video, flanked by four masked Boko Haram fighters, two of whom hold the militants’ black flags. Two others fighters are seen standing on the back of pick-up trucks fitted with heavy machineguns. Shekau fires an assault rifle into the air at the end of his address.
There was no indication when the video – entitled “Message to President Paul Biya of Cameroon” – was shot or where. It also used the group’s preferred Arabic name “Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad” or “People committed to the propagation of the Prophet’s teachings and jihad.” Boko Haram roughly translates from the Hausa language widely spoken in northern Nigeria as “Western education is forbidden.” In the video, Shekau praises his fighters “inside Cameroonian soil” and calls on Biya to “repent.” “If you do not, you will see what will come from Allah, the All-Powerful who has control over everything in respect of chastisement and calamity,” he says, waving his right index finger. “Your troops are nothing. Even Nigerian soldiers couldn’t do anything to us.” He also calls on the people of Cameroon to “rebel against democracy and shun it.” Cameroon’s president has made a series of strong statements against Boko Haram and in October last year vowed to go after the group “until it’s totally wiped out.” In May last year, he said that a Paris meeting of Nigeria’s neighbors was designed to “declare war on Boko Haram.” But a key agreement at the summit to set up a regional force has yet to be implemented. Cameroon has been increasingly vocal in its criticisms about the lack of a coordinated response against Boko Haram and called for support from neighboring countries.

Two Women Jailed For Using Kids As Beggars With Fake Wounds
The Family Court 1 in Yaba Magistracy has jailed two women for trafficking and using children to beg for alms in Victoria Island area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
The women, Amarachi Eke from Imo State and Chioma Eze from Awka in Anambra State, sourtheast Nigeria, were arraigned at the court on Wednesday on a two-count charge of using underaged children to beg for alms. And they pleaded guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Y.O. Aje-Afunwa sentenced them to two months imprisonment each; one month for each count charge and they are also to pay a fine of N5,000. The jail terms will run concurrently.
In sentencing them, Aje-Afunwa said there was the need for the convicts to learn some useful lessons in prison and that since they were still young, they should engage in something more productive rather than using kids to beg on the street.
According to her, they have to learn the hard way in prison not to engage in something bad in the society, believing that the prison would transform their lives for the better.
The two women were arrested at Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island recently while begging with two kids, aged six and nine years. The stomach and legs of the kids were plastered with ointment and wool to give the impression that they were suffering from serious burns to attract public sympathy.
An Environmentalist, Betty Albert, was driving by and saw the gory sight of the nine-year old boy lying on the ground and decided to assist the victim.
She parked her car and came out and told Chioma that she should be allowed to take the boy to the hospital.
On hearing this, Chioma asked the boy to run away which he did, but unfortunately, he was caught by a policeman who was on duty nearby.
The Environmentalist asked the policeman to chase after the boy and he was caught and brought back to the scene.
“I asked the boy whether something was wrong with him and he said he was okay. I asked him whether I could remove the plasters and wool on his stomach and he said yes. So I removed them and found o
ut that the boy was alright.
“The boy told me that his younger brother was at Eko Hotel with another woman also begging for alms and that they should help him to get the boy. The boy was brought with the other woman,” Betty explained.
The boy’s leg was also plastered with ointment and wool to deceive people that he had been badly burnt and needed help.
Investigation revealed that Chioma Eze, from Anambra State, had gone to Awka and told the children’s parents that she wanted to assist them send the children to school in Lagos and she was allowed to take them. But unknown to the parents, their children were brought to beg for alms in Lagos.
Betty had been following the case or almost two weeks to ensure justice was done.
The women were arrested by police from Bar Beach Police Station, while the case was later transferred to Adeniji Adele Police Station.
The case was again transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba where it was charged to court on Wednesday.
According to Betty, the in-law of one of the women had been threatening her life because of the way she had pursued the case, alleging that the in-law to Chioma said he had marked her face and would ensure that she was eliminated.
The Lagos State Office of Youth and Social Department has been following the case and has expressed disgust at the way the children were ill-treated by the women.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Social Development, Dr. Dolapo Badru, said it is lamentable that Anambra State had continued to be a place where people were brought to Lagos to beg for alms.
“How can these women be so callous to have brought these children from Anambra State to beg for alms in Lagos? They even make the children feign injury and they don’t have homes in Lagos and now they will say we are deporting their people. What we are saying is that these are things the public won’t know,” he stated
He said Lagos “would not tolerate a situation where Anambra State would continue to infest the state with beggars and later cry wolf that we are deporting people that have no homes to stay in the state.”
Badru vowed that the government would go after such people using kids to solicit for alms, while decrying the new strategy now being in used to attract public sympathy, saying it is inhuman to treat kids that way.
He said the punishment meted out to the women would serve as deterrent to others who might want to engage in such despicable act
South Africa: President's son linked to fatal crash
JOHANNESBURG (AP) — A son of South Africa’s president is being investigated in a case of culpable homicide, or negligent killing, after his luxury car collided with a minibus taxi on Feb. 1, killing one woman, South African media reported Sunday.
President Jacob Zuma’s son, Duduzane, was driving a Porsche when the accident happened in Sandton, an affluent area of Johannesburg, South Africa’s Sunday Times newspaper reported. Duduzane Zuma, a businessman, could face charges, said The Sunday Independent.
Brig. Neville Malila, a provincial police spokesman, said one person died and two were injured in a road accident on Feb. 1, but he declined to reveal the names of the drivers, pending an investigation.
‘‘We are investigating a case of culpable homicide,’’ Malila said.
The case is politically sensitive for the president, who has been criticized amid allegations of corruption in his government and a multi-million dollar upgrade of his private estate that triggered public outrage because it was paid for by the state. On Friday, Zuma announced that general elections will be held May 7 in what he called an opportunity to build on South Africa’s democracy, 20 years after the end of white minority rule.
The political opposition has alleged that police gave Duduzane preferential treatment at the crash site, citing reports that he was not given a mandatory Breathalyzer test and he was allowed to have the car towed instead of it being impounded as evidence. The Democratic Alliance, the main opposition party, urged South Africa’s police watchdog body to investigate.
