To pursue is to follow someone,seeking to form a relationship with him or her in a persistent way,though there might be oppositions and difficulties.
In likewise manner,pursuing God is when we follow Him and seek to form a relationship with Him persistently,though there may be oppositions.
Our oppositions may be our weaknesses such as fornication,adultery,mastu
Inspite of all these weaknesses,you refuse to give up on seeking God because your aim is to behold His glory,having hope that He shall surely turn to you. You do not let your weakness stop you from seeking Him. You focus on Him alone without being condemned by your own thought. God-seeking souls pursue God with all they are,even though they know that they are very weak(sinful). They wish not to do evil against God but they continue to do. Such souls look up to God and follow Him,hoping that certainly God will purge them. If you persistently pursue God,He will turn to you and remove every impurity or guilt from you so that you will be free from sin and become pure. One does not only need to be holy before seeking God but as you seek Him in your weakness too,He will transform you.
The sinful woman who anointed Jesus Christ with oil knew within herself that she was a great sinner but she pursued Christ with all that she was and Christ purged her(Luke 7:36-48).
Zacchaeus too was considered a sinner but he decided to seek Christ(19:1-10).
David did many evil things and yet he followed God with his heart so he was a man on God's heart.
So David said, "I sought the Lord and He answered me"(Psalm 34:4).
That is not to say that one must delibrately commit evil. There are people who take delight in sinning against God. They pretend like they are really following God but they are hypocrites.
There are others too whose hearts are after God. They struggle to live righteous life before God but they are very weak and cannot control themselves so they easily fall. Such people are seeking God and I admonish them not to give up,but they should pursue God with faith,prayer and through the study of His word. He will answer them like He answered David.
One of the great obstacles in pursuing God is our mind set(our thought). Our thought can easily condemn us,and instead of seeking God with perseverance,we will rather fall back into our sins.
So brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, I tell you, seek God without doubting because He draws near to all who seek Him(James 4:8a).
As we pursue Him with all that we are,He purges us and we eventually appear in His presence,where we experience the fullness of His glory like Moses experienced(Exodus 33:12-23).
PRAYER:
Almighty God,I thank you for being God and creating us in Your own Image.
We have gone wayward because of our weaknesses but we still want to know You Lord.
Stretch forth Your Mighty Arms and receive us as we pursue You.
Remove every impurity from us and make us clean.
Let us have favour before You and be in Your presence oh Lord. For there is the fullness of Your glory there,and let Thy glory move with us in all the days of our lives,through Jesus Christ Your Son,and our Lord I ask You these,Amen.
